A Day of Remembrance, 2013

Gravesite at Calvary Hill where more than
1,300 aborted babies are buried
This past Saturday - September 14, 2013 - was the first annual National Day of Remembrance For Aborted Children. There were over 100 memorial services held at locations all over the country, including 38 gravesites of aborted children.

The North Texas memorial was held at the Cemetery of the Innocents at Calvary Hill in Dallas, where more than 1,300 babies are buried. Many of the babies were discovered by pro-life activists in the dumpster of a local abortion clinic in 1984.

This site is also the burial site of Baby Malachi, the subject of one of
the most famous photos of an aborted baby ever taken. His image has been used by thousands of pro-life advocates nationwide and has turned hearts away from abortion to choose life!

Malachi was recovered by activist Flip Benham of Operation Save America and was buried in 1993. His name means "Messenger," appropriate since his image has brought the truth about abortion to millions of people across the country. (Read more about Malachi here.) (See an image of Malachi here - WARNING; graphic)

The local sponsor of this year's memorial was Texas Pro-Life Action Team.

The memorial included prayers led by Ishita Patel Kent of Dallas, the singing of Amazing Grace led by Karen Garnett (Executive Director of The Catholic Pro-Life Committee), and the laying of flowers at the gravesite.

Speakers for the memorial included Andrew Smith; State Director for Texas Pro-Life Action Team, Rachel Lam from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Frisco, Janice Petrie with The Bella House, and Jacqueline Smith with Flowers For Innocents Project.

The memorial ended in solemn silence in tribute to the nearly 55 million babies known to have been aborted in the United States since January 22, 1973.

The second annual Day of Remembrance will be held Saturday, September 13, 2014.

Dallas Welcomes National Youth Movement

40 Days for Life-Dallas has kicked off to an inspiring start with 11 babies confirmed saved from abortion outside the Southwestern late-term abortion center, where the 24/7 40-day prayer vigil is taking place.
On Saturday, October 13, the campaign will mark its mid-point by welcoming the presence of youth to the campaign.  Like last year, we expect hundreds of young people to take to the sidewalk with yellow "LIFE" balloons, a symbol of the pro-life youth movement spreading across the country, interspersed with black balloons memorializing those lost to abortion.
"Seeing our youth on the sidewalk prayerfully proclaiming the Gospel of Life with their brave witness was a truly compelling moment in the campaign last year.  We are thrilled to once again bring this positive and profound message to the front lines," said Dallas Campaign Director Joanne Underwood.
Youth Day will begin at 11:30 a.m. with disbursement of the balloons in Harry Moss Park (corner of Greenville and Royal) and a brief prayer service.  At noon, the youth will process across the street for a peaceful prayer demonstration on the sidewalk outside the abortion center.
At 1:00 p.m., all are welcome back to the park for the Midway Picnic, featuring music and the powerful testimony of local abortion survivor Angela Balderaz, one of thirty-nine women who participated in the historic, 21-day Back to Life Walk from the mega-Planned Parenthood in Houston to Downtown Dallas.

Reproductive Health: Safe, Legal, and Rare

These terms of the so-called "pro choice" crowd make me cringe.  So do many of their other terms, including "pro choice", that they use or have used in the past.  Alas, that is for another day.

Abortion is not "reproductive health".  It kills reproduction, and being an unnecessary "procedure", it not in the best interest of "health".

Legal?  Just because our country does not recognize it as inhumane or a crime does not make it so.  Slavery was once accepted as well.  One can only hope and pray that our nation will one day reflect on the tragedy of abortion as it now does regarding slavery.

Rare?  Abortion is a September 11 each and every day.  There are about as many Americans killed each day via abortion as there are victims of our nation's most stunning attack.  There are about as many Americans killed each year via abortion as there have been in all of the wars (including actions against pirates) we have engaged in combined.  (And we're only talking about abortions in the U.S.)

Safe?  Well, it's certainly not safe for the innocent babies who are killed in a variety of ways.  And the mothers?  Those claims of "back alley abortions" come to mind whenever I think of the many abortion mill locations I have seen.  Hello!  They're still "back alley" in my opinion of course.  And the women who go in look as if they've been through hell.  Oh yeh, they have.  And what about the proven psychological effects they suffer afterwards?

Enough of my rant.  Have you seen this?

Family Seeks Answers After Woman’s Death Following Abortion

CHICAGO (CBS) – The family of a Chicago woman who died after an abortion at Planned Parenthood says it wants answers about her death.

Tonya Reaves, 24, died late Friday night from a hemorrhage, with a cervical dilation and evacuation, as well as an intrauterine pregnancy as contributing causes, according to the medical examiner’s office.

She died after she’d had an abortion at Planned Parenthood at 18 S. Michigan Av, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Her death was ruled an accident, but the Reaves family wants to know more, especially Tonya’s twin sister Toni.

“We were born the same day. She was my other half,” Toni said.

Toni Reaves said the family is trying to get through this.

“It happened so fast. She was just fine one day and then the next day she was gone. We’re just trying to figure out what happened… what happened,” she said.

Toni Reaves said her sister was engaged to be married and had one son – Alvin – who just had his first birthday.

In a written statement, Planned Parenthood of Illinois CEO Carole Brite said “We were shocked and saddened upon learning of a tragic development at a nearby hospital. Our hearts go out to the loved ones of this patient.

“While legal abortion services in the United States have a very high safety record, a tragedy such as this is devastating to loved ones and we offer our deepest sympathies. Planned Parenthood of Illinois cares deeply about the health and safety of each and every patient. We do not publicly discuss private patient matters and we follow HIPAA laws that forbid the disclosure of patient information.”
